"If I don't learn something every single day, it's a wasted day." That adage defines me. Taking it to heart, I've gone on to excel in my undergraduate degree while pursuing the highly competitive Chartered Accountancy course in parallel, and to intern at Company A…
(a wealth-management and stock-brokerage firm) in New York for deeper exposure to finance. I later joined my family's paper-manufacturing business, assisting in establishing a new plant and setting new standards by digitalising and automating operations. To achieve my long-term goals, I now need a more comprehensive knowledge of business, which is where LSE's Master in Management would help. Growing up, I watched my father grow the business from a small start-up of under 30 employees into a group of over 800, driven by constant learning and a focus on innovation. I strived to imbibe the same, engaging with the company from a young age and taking my interest forward through a B.Com (Hons), where courses like Financial Management and Organisational Behaviour blended theory with practice, and micro- and macroeconomics gave me an overview of the forces shaping enterprise. I supplemented this with a Six Sigma programme and, through the CA course, gained knowledge of accounting, auditing, taxation, and strategic financial management. Alongside academics, I've focused on serving others, organising evening classes and health check-ups for around 60 underprivileged children as a student-society president, and running a blood-donation drive that raised more than 300 units. Interning at Company A, I learned to evaluate IPOs and analyse stocks while developing cultural awareness. Choosing the family business over a Big-4 offer, I integrated a faster accounting system that improved efficiency by nearly 40%, set up a foreign trading arm to access cheaper raw materials, and led marketing initiatives including two national fairs and a full digital revamp. Through these experiences I've built a sound base in finance but recognise gaps in marketing, general management, and strategy, essential to help the business expand internationally into European and Asian markets. LSE's MiM, through courses like Strategy and Innovation, Business in the Global Environment, and Cross-Cultural Management, will sharpen my decision-making and analytical understanding, and its uniquely interdisciplinary community, spanning law, politics, and analytics, will broaden my perspective. I hope to share my brokerage and financial-analysis experience in the Finance and Consulting Clubs, and ultimately take these learnings home to build a stronger, globally competitive enterprise.
