Growing up, I heard the word "stocks" almost daily because of my father's work in investment management as the founder of a portfolio-management firm. Watching him analyse price movements for hours, place trades under tight deadlines, and manage both the firm's sustainability and client accountability…

left a lasting impression. Finance never felt distant; it was part of my everyday environment, and observing how he navigated uncertainty and made disciplined decisions gradually shaped my curiosity into a deeper interest in the principles behind those choices. To build a structured foundation, I pursued a BBA at a technology-focused university, taking courses like Financial Accounting, Financial Management, and Financial Statement Analysis, alongside Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Financial Markets and Institutions, and Investment Banking, which strengthened my grasp of valuation, portfolio optimisation, risk-return trade-offs, and capital-market mechanics. A major research project trained me in data cleaning, hypothesis testing, and remaining objective when results challenged my assumptions. Outside class, I helped run my college's finance society, organising 7+ workshops and guest lectures for 150+ students, many from non-commerce backgrounds, and finished runner-up in a mock stock competition. My internships expanded this exposure. At a Big Four firm I evaluated COVID-19's impact across industries, learning how macro shocks transmit differently across sectors and balance sheets. As an investment-analyst intern at Company A (a portfolio-management firm), I analysed 60+ companies, maintained 70+ portfolio trackers covering returns, risk, and daily P&L, and supported senior review materials. I later joined Company B (a mid-sized portfolio-management practice) full-time as an analyst, supporting portfolios for HNI and retail clients, assisting in asset allocation and macro-driven rebalancing, and translating real-time diagnostics into decisions on position sizing, sector exposure, and drawdown control. This grounding in execution and risk monitoring also highlighted its limits: my work focused on equity portfolios and active allocation within a defined market, and did not fully encompass the theoretical depth, global perspective, and formal risk frameworks needed to build resilient, diversified portfolios across asset classes and geographies. The MSc Finance at LSE is uniquely positioned to address this. Core courses like Corporate Finance and Asset Markets will bridge observing market outcomes and understanding the forces that shape them, while Quantitative Methods and Empirical Finance will let me test hypotheses systematically rather than relying on pattern recognition. Optional courses in Portfolio Management, Risk Management, International Finance, and Restructuring will formalise areas where I currently rely on experience. Post-LSE, my immediate goal is a portfolio-management analyst role at a global asset manager, moving from intuition-driven execution to analytically rigorous portfolio design. Ultimately, I aim to build a research-driven investment platform grounded in global allocation, structured risk modelling, and transparency, where every decision is clearly articulated and empirically justified. The MSc Finance at LSE is the natural next step in that journey.
